God Heals and is Near

In reading the first set of verses I noticed that a key aspect of God’s work is healing. Psalms, Isaiah and Matthew all refer to this healing work of God’s.

Hear these words from each:

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalms 147:3
… the Lord binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds ... Isaiah 30:26
Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority … to heal every disease ... Heal the sick … cleanse those who have leprosy Matthew 10:1, 7

In addition, there is a pattern of closeness and hands-on care in each, in and around this healing in these scriptures. Hear again, the closeness in the associated scripture:

He heals the brokenhearted … He … calls them each by name. the Lord delights in those who fear him … put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalms 147:3-4, 11
How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. [you] will hear a voice behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it. Isaiah 30:19, 21
The kingdom of heaven has come near ... Freely you have received; freely give. Matthew 10:1, 8

This healing is highly personal. God and heaven are near, right behind you, knowing your name, hearing you, extending grace, and delighting in you. He is binding up those wounds and then asking us to give as we received.

Lord may we receive you healing for our hearts and wounds. May we know your personal care and closenesss. And then may we heal others as we received.

Jonathan Legg

This song is repetitive but the right words. Listen as a meditation (until you hear it - in your heart):
